I’m a musician based in Stockholm, Sweden. My main artistic focus is being a reed player in contemporary jazz and improvised music, where I lead and compose music for a couple of projects. I’m also a freelancing musician in other projects within the same field - and in a broader spectrum of music as well.

Energetic saxophone trio music that stretches from puzzling intensity to fragile ballads. At the heart of it is a love for the peculiarities of bebop and free jazz, and a joy for writing tunes.

A drum-less trio that seriously wants to approximate equal terms for improvising together in a musical landscape where composition and improvisation bleed into each other, blurring the lines in between.

This trio was with me throughout my two year long master project "A trio is a world." The thesis revolves around the premises for improvising and the development of improvised interplay in a trio with a focus on the group itself; creating written musical materials from recorded improvisations and forming conceptual ideas based on recorded discussions.

The project was based on monthly rehearsals with the trio Gahrton/Öhrström/Bromander. As a point of departure the trio studied the music of Jimmy Giuffre 3 (1961-63) in great depth

Steve Swallow is interviewed in the thesis. He read it and commented:

”I have read your thesis with fascination and admiration. Such documents are seldom creative acts themselves, but yours is. It outlines an approach to improvised music that is bound to yield strong results, and I urge you to continue your explorations.”

The music is composed by Daniel and singer Matilda Anderson, who mostly writes the swedish lyrics. The name refers to a ship on an ongoing journey and the music travels between different realms of sound, from modern jazz expressions explosive improvisation and poplike grooves.
